Light sensitive glass when exposed to UV rays will absorb and record those rays in variety of purples, oranges, and pinks. The glass will change in brightness and in color depending on variables like exposure length, location, time of day and year. The process is somewhat similar to that of film photography or cyanotype, the glass remains in the dark unless when being exposed to light, and eventually goes through a developing process in a high temperature oven.
For following pieces of glass, I acted as a shutter and exposed the glass to sunlight. I would find and face the sun, while slowly, almost meditatively exposing the glass to the suns rays. This process became somewhat performative for me, I began recording myself in the act of exposure, which could last for minutes or even hours on end. These glass pieces became a set of experiments, recording various exposure increments, under various exposure conditions throughout the Fall of 2022.
